Steven Alan – S/S 2012 – Menswear

New York: Steven Alan knows what men want: classics like easygoing woven shirts, crisp chinos, soft knits and approachable suiting. For S/S 12, he was inspired by 60s Americana, which seemed a bit vague at first glance. However, a color palette drawn from artist Alex Katz’s iconic and graphic portraits, and a subtle hint of rebelliousness made it all make sense. Chino shorts with contrasting edges, a spring-appropriate toggle jacket and simple shorts suits all made for a collection full of youthful, wearable whimsy.  —Michael Fisher
